Campaign Connection Bentomatic Updated

The Campaign Connection Bentomatic has been expanded! You can now gain access to the entire site as a Bentomatic experience.

The experience includes everything on the Campaign Connection page here, (except the blog, but posts within it are found on the Social Hub page). This gives you access to a huge amount of content, including the Social Hub (with interactive quizzes, polls and social media aggregation), in-depth reporting on campaign issues and education resources. News is updated daily, and interactive elements will change to reflect the news cycle.

You may continue to adopt the simplified Bentomatic version of the homepage (example here) which curates a sample of the best content from across the site. You may also adopt any number of other pages along with it (such as the Social Hub or Video & Audio). However, adopting the full experience will allow access to the widest amount of resources and the most up-to-date reporting.

To gain access to all pages, submit your request via the Digital Support Portal. They will provide you with a sitemap for the bentomatic. Some guidance is outlined below:

 For Passport and Explorer sites:
  1. Single Page: Use the “PBS Election” Bentomatic in your page content section
  2. Multiple Pages: Implement the entire PBS Election site into your Bento site. Follow step one above and then use the Election Bentomatic Sitemap to create the full navigation and drop in the correlated content into the Page content Sections.
For Studio Sites:
  1. Single Page: Place the “PBS Election Hero” Bentomatic in your Hero Carousel section, and the “PBS Election Studio” Bentomatic in your Page Content section.
  2. Multiple Pages: Implement the entire PBS Election site into your Bento site. Follow step one above and then use the Election Bentomatic Sitemap to create the full navigation and drop in the correlated content into the Page content Sections.
And with the conventions right around the corner, join in the election conversation by including the national campaign hashtag (#electionPBS) and the local producer hashtag (#localvotePBS) in your social posts, to ensure we’re able to draw your content into the social hub!

Stay up to date with all the latest news on content being shared locally and nationally by joining the Elections 2016 – Local Station Collab Facebook group and let us know what you’re working on!

Check out the Notes from the Campaign Trail, an interactive map of videos from stations around the country, which allows viewers to follow PBS coverage of the elections chronologically and geographically. If you’re interested in making something similar, the tool is free and simple to use: StoryMapJS by Knight Lab.
