Host a PBS KIDS Live Game in Your Community

PBS KIDS Digital is excited to announce an opportunity for stations to receive grants of up to $5,000 each to host live games!

Kart Kingdom is an upcoming virtual world on, aimed for kids aged 6-9, that teaches kids systems thinking while allowing them to explore a new world, customize their own unique Karts, and complete challenges. Kart Kingdom is generously funded by a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Systems thinking is the ability to solve problems by understanding the interacting elements within a complex system such as the water cycle --- an important skill for not only science but also understanding complex issues in general. In preparation for Kart Kingdom, PBS KIDS Digital partnered with Playmatics, a live game design firm, and three pilot stations (Eight, Arizona PBS in Phoenix, KLRU in Austin, and WFSU in Tallahassee) to create three live games based on the systems thinking curriculum, which were all extremely successful. We then compiled the live games into toolkits that allow you to customize them to your local area.

Now is the chance to host a live game in your community! Using our toolkits, you could choose to host one of the three pilot stations’ live games as a standalone event, or as part of a larger station or local community event that your station is participating in. Through these games, we hope to engage local children with the systems thinking curriculum and strengthen relationships between stations and local families.
