Catching Carmen: The Case of the Pilfered Paintbrushes

By Natalie Benson, PBS Social Media

We would like to use this month’s Social Media Spotlight post to share some fun news!

We have officially launched a new campaign today, called: #CatchingCarmen: The Case of the Pilfered Paintbrushes.

We want to revive the nostalgia of Carmen Sandiego’s fans in order to increase awareness of our social networks, while also increasing follower bases.

A small PBS team, working with several local stations, developed an eight-week geography game that encourages fans across the nation to uncover clues, solve landmark trivia questions, and share pictures of themselves with PBS for the chance to be featured across our social platforms. The majority of the posts will be tied into the #ThrowbackThursday meme, so keep an eye out for PBS posts with this hashtag.

We created a RebelMouse page to aggregate all the submissions from players. You can follow along at

Since this blog is public, we ask that you read our station note sent out for more detailed information, and if you have any questions,  please feel free to reach out to us (contact info below).

Here is our Instagram post on the @PBSofficial account: Catching Carmen Intro

We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to help drive social media engagement—and some PBS nostalgia—both at a local and national level.

Thank you!
